Dr.  Joseph Eisner, M.D. F.A.C.S.


Dr. Eisner received a degree in Integrative Biology at U.C. Berkeley with a focus of cognitive neuroscience and medical ethno-botany.  He then worked at a non-profit focused on children's literacy advocacy in Orange County for several years. He attended medical school at New York University and completed his General Surgery internship and residency at U.C. San Diego and awarded membership in the American College of Surgeons (ACS) and Society of American Gastrointestinal and Endoscopic Surgeons (SAGES).

Dr. Eisner is a board certified general surgeon and a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons with a focus in minimally invasive and robotic surgery.  He performs emergency general surgery and critical care.  He has extensive training in gastrointestinal issues (esophageal, stomach, small intestine, colon, rectal and anus) with expertise in colon and rectal disease (cancer, diverticulitis, and hemorrhoids).  He treats esophageal reflux, hernia (inguinal, umbilical, and ventral), skin and soft tissue (skin cancer and melanoma, lipoma, pilonidal), and breast disease (benign and cancer).  

Dr.  Eisner has been elected to the Saint John's Regional Medical Center Cancer Committee, and is a member of the Breast Cancer and Oncology Tumor Boards.   He was the first in Ventura County to perform a novel hemorrhoid surgery, Transanal Hemorrhoidal Dearterialization (THD), and teaches other surgeons the technique.  He is on faculty at Community Memorial Hospital for the General Surgery Residency.
